    March is Reading Month

It is indeed "March is Reading Month" and buildings have various activities going on to celebrate.  We discovered a great quote by Jim Trelese that we felt should be shared.

"Next to hugging your child, reading aloud is probably the longest lasting experience that you can put into your child's life. You will savor it long after they have grown up. Reading aloud is important for all the reasons that talking to children is important - to inspire them, to guide them, to educate them, to bond with them, and to communicate your feelings, hopes and fears. You are giving children a piece of your mind and a piece of your time."

    Thank You Voters!

On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to thank you, the Fruitport community, for the tremendous support you have shown through the passage of the school bond proposal.  The trust you have placed in us will be honored as we work hard to make sure every dollar of this bond issue is spent wisely.

Actual work on bond projects will not begin for several months.  We must first sell bonds to generate money to pay for various projects that were approved.  We will also begin meeting with architects and engineers to design the work to be accomplished.  Bond project updates will be provided as we move through the process.

We sincerely appreciate the hard work of the Facilities Study Committee, who designed the bond proposal, and Fruitport Citizens for Kids, who worked extremely hard communicating the scope of the bond to the public.  This team effort exemplifies the spirit of cooperation so evident time and again in the Fruitport community.  Our district is indeed a special place with great students and staff, tremendous community support, and now, an opportunity for improved facilities and technology.

Thank you ALL for your support in helping us maintain quality schools.

    Bob Szymoniak, Superintendent
